 The Key West Fishing Tournament (KWFT) is a seven-month-long competition that runs from April through November and is open to the general public. Visiting and resident anglers are encouraged to enter their catches, at no charge, at a tournament weigh station during the seven-month event. All entries receive a certificate noting their catch, and qualify for prizes. Each year the tournament is opened and closed by a special mini kickoff tournament, the Shimano Kickoff. The 2004 KWFT will begin on April 24 and ill close on November 30, 2004.

Teams of 10-15 people walk, jog or run around local tracks raising funds that will help fight the disease through research, education, advocacy and patient services. This ultimate community event can be shared by everyone; young to seniors. From the opening "Victory Lap" led by survivors, to the emotional candle-lighting ceremony and the triumphant final lap, Relay For Life is an experience that participants will always remember!  In June of 2003, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the end of Truman's presidency, Mr. Robert Wolz of the Harry S Truman Little White House in Key West coordinated, with Michael Devine of the Truman Presidential Museum & Library, Dr. Robert P. Watson of Florida Atlantic University/White House Studies and many valuable sponsors and volunteers, the first ever Truman Symposium. The forum held was dedicated to assessing Truman's enduring legacy in the critically important and timely area of national security. The forum was an inaugural event in Key West and what will become the annual "Truman Legacy Series," exploring the legacy of President Truman and its effects upon today's society which includes a scholarly monograph series published by Truman State University Press. Key West and the Little White House were wherePresident Truman spent 175 days of his Presidency. His Little White House became the functioning White House of America with many pieces of legislation drafted and enacted there. Venues include the LaConcha Hotel, Little White House Museum and the Fla Keys Community College.
